• Lantz Donates Skilled Labor For Unique Project
We have a local camp here in the Shenandoah Valley for children and adults with disabilities called Camp Still Meadows. It is a camp that provides a rare opportunity for mentally and physically disabled children and adults to commune with nature, experience new challenges, and achieve self-confidence through personal growth. Camp Still Meadows opened in 1997 and continues to provide unique experiences for over 1,400 people each year, including a therapeutic horseback riding program, “healing gardens,” summer camp sessions as well as year-round special events and opportunities. The camp’s most recent goal was to build one of the only wheelchair-accessible treehouses in Virginia. Lantz Construction Company donated skilled labor for the duration of the project and also held an office-wide “work day” one Saturday to help build this dream into reality. Various other donations and help came from the community as well. This treehouse will allow campers of all abilities to view nature from a new and previously unattainable perspective. The treehouse consists of 1,000 square feet of decks and sheltered areas nestled within five live oak trees. This universally-accessible treehouse, located in the woods of Camp Still Meadows, is the only one of its kind in Virginia. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held May 19, 2007.
